One of the most reliable and hardy pelargonium species in cultivation with lemony pungent scented heart-shaped coarsely toothed leaves, which can be used for essential oil and has a citronella-like aroma. The flowers are white, pink or pale purple with darker markings on the upper petals and each flowering stalk has about 10 flowers. P. vitifolium is a large upright slightly woody shrub which grows to about 100 cm/39 inches in height and when grown in a Mediterranean-type climate this shrub can grow over quite a large area of the garden if not pruned and can survive for short periods of frost or snow when fully grown, although a plant fleece is advised. This plant is ideal for large pots, large gardens, fragrant gardens and gardens with water features.

Pelargonium vitifolium is a large upright slightly woody shrub that grows to about 100 cm (39 inches) in height,the heart shaped coarsely toothed leaves have a lemony pungent scent and the flowers are white, pink or pale purple in colour with darker markings on the upper petals and each flowering stalk contains about 10 flowers.

This plant is native to South Africa in the Western Cape in areas of the South & the South West where it grows in valleys close to streams and has Summer & Winter rainfall.
